LokSound Select OEM Sounds

Here you can find project files for our LokSound Select decoders that are made for certain, selected locomotives from various manufacturers. Our decoders in combination with these files are either factory-preinstalled or the locomotive was designed "sound friendly" for the usage of our decoders. Please use the latest LokProgrammer Software V4 to download these files to the decoder.

If you already know the ESU project ID (5-digit code), simply enter it in the search field.

  •   *EMD 16cyl 645E3 (FT)*

MUST use LokProgrammer Version 4.4.21 or newer

    Bowser GMD SD40-2
    Updated with Bronze Bell
    Updated with Full Throttle Features

The emd 645 series was an evolution of the earlier 567 series and a precursor to the later 710 series. When the 645 prime mover entered production in 1965, a large series of new locomotive models was introduced. The turbocharged version was used in EMD's 40 Series (GP40, SD40 and SD45) in 3,000 horsepower (2,200 kW), sixteen-cylinder form and in 3,600 horsepower (2,700 kW), twenty-cylinder form. EMD also introduced the Roots-blown 38 Series (GP38, SD38) and turbocharged, twelve-cylinder 39 Series (GP39, SD39). All of these locomotive models extensively share common components and subsystems, thereby significantly reducing cost and increasing interchangeability. The GP38-2 and SD40-2 became the most popular models of the series and among the most popular locomotive models ever built.

This 16cyl 645E3 with Turbo sound file would be appropriate for the following locomotives:

    GP40

  •   *GE 16cyl 7FDL Modern*

    Kato USA C44-9W and AC4400CW

In the mid 1980's GE changed it's 16cyl FDL design to include a different exhaust silencer, a new electric compressor (often known as the "Whoop compressor") and changed some of the electronics of their locomotives. These differences, among a few others, led to a distinct change in the sounds from the GE 16cyl FDL often found from the U25Bs on through the Dash-7 series of the locomotives. Somewhere along the line, GE also added a "7" to their FDL line of engines designating that these engines were based on the Cooper Bessemer design.

NOTE: Some AC6000CW were built with 16cyl 7FDL's and were later converted to 16cyl 7HDL's. Some were never converted. Please refer to the prototype for reference.

Passenger Locos including: P40DC and P42DC were built slightly different and contained HEP (Head End Power). For these engines plesae use SELECT sound file #73482 or the V4.0 sound file #74482.

We have incorporated many NEW FEATURES in this sound file including:
-Both regular prime mover and "Smart Start" prime mover
    -Brand new horns
    -2 Bells
-Proper working dynamic brakes. Prime mover spools down to idle and then rises as dynamic brake fan runs. The engine brakes faster due to the dynamic brake motor logic.
-Throttle sensitive prime mover sound paths
    - Brand new spitter sounds - slow and fast!
    - Spitter sounds upon shutdown for 1 minute then automatically turn off
    - We have added an additional prime mover that more closely mimics the prototype when engaging notch one.

As with all SELECT decoders there are up to 16 separate horns, 2 separate brake squeals and 2 bells include on this one sound profile! All changeable using CV48.

  •   *MPI MP36PH-3C*

    True Line Trains MP36PH-3C

The MP36PH-3C has the same prime mover as the "-3S" model, the EMD 645F3B diesel engine, but with its HEP generated by a separate Caterpillar C-18 diesel engine, thus the "C" in its model name. In this arrangement, when providing HEP, the full 3600 HP from the prime mover is available for traction, and the prime mover is allowed to idle at a lower RPM.

The MP36PH-3C sound is correct for many of the Rebuilt F40PH locomotives. As they were rebuilt many of the shaft driven HEP units were replaced with separate CAT HEP's. VIA's Rebuilt F40PH's are a prime example. Always do your research to be sure you are using the correct prime mover for your installation!

Along with a very nice K5LA horn, as with all Select decoders there are a total of 16 separate horns, 2 separate brake squeals, an air bell and an E-Bell all included on this one sound profile! All changeable using CV48
