The compact SwitchPilot 3 Mini decoder is designed for stationary use in hard-to-reach areas of your layout and can control a double-coil turnout motor, two magnetic uncouplers, a two-aspect signal, two incandescent bulbs, or other stationary loads.
The SwitchPilot 3 Mini features an innovative operating concept consisting of a 4-line, backlit OLED display and three input buttons.
Operating Modes
The SwitchPilot 3 Mini is multi-protocol compatible and can be used with command stations based on the Märklin® Motorola® system (e.g., 6021, Central Station®, or Mobile Station®) as well as DCC-compatible control units. Configuration can be performed on either the main track or the programming track.
Functions
The SwitchPilot 3 Mini can be powered either directly from the digital system or from an external DC or AC power source. It has a total of two transistor outputs. The outputs (OutA and OutB) can be individually configured for the desired application:
In pulse mode, the output is switched on as soon as a switching command is received. The fact that the output switches off automatically once the time stored in the decoder has elapsed prevents solenoid drives from burning out.
In momentary mode (K83-compatible), the output remains active as long as the button on the control panel is pressed. This operating mode is suitable for accessories with limit switches or for uncoupling tracks.
In bistable continuous mode (K84-compatible), the two outputs are switched on and off alternately: Pressing the first button (red) on the control panel switches on output Out A. It remains active until the corresponding button (green) activates output Out B. Out A and Out B behave like a changeover switch.
In alternating flashing mode, outputs Out A and Out B are switched on alternately at an adjustable flashing frequency. The alternating flasher is started with the "Straight/Green" command of the assigned button and stopped with the "Round/Red" command.
Optionally, the output can also be slowly faded in and out (so-called "zoom" for incandescent bulb simulation).
Setup
The SwitchPilot 3 Mini can be flexibly set up either on the programming track with DCC command stations or on the main track with POM ("Programming on Main"). It can also learn addresses directly via a programming button. The easiest way to set it up, however, is with the integrated OLED display and the three input buttons: All settings can be checked and changed directly on the decoder. "Programming" using your command station is not required. It really couldn't be simpler. The ESU LokProgrammer can be used for firmware updates.
Protection
As with our locomotive decoders, the outputs of the SwitchPilot 3 Mini are largely protected against overload. We want you to enjoy your decoder for as long as possible.
